Day 2 of the festival is off to a flying start with morning yoga and Gi Gong sessions following by talks, screenings and more! Read below for a little more info for what’s on offer on Day 2, Saturday 7th October…

Georgia Morley is a Certified Doula, Holistic Nutritionist/classically trained Chef and Registered Yoga Instructor. Enjoy this morning activating yoga to set your day off right!

“Yin Yoga” with Lia Gunawan
Throughout her journey, yoga and meditation have allowed Lia Gunawan to enter the realm of daily living with compassion towards herself and others. By sharing her passion, Lia hopes you will find your own style of personal practice and create your own fun journey to live in. Stretch and meditate with Lia in a Yin Yoga session.

“Choosing a Raw Vegan Conscious Lifestyle” by Janette Murray-Wakelin and Alan Murray
Description: There is more to being Raw Vegan than you may realise! Janette and Alan will share their 16+ years experience as raw vegans and how making the connection that a Raw Vegan Conscious Lifestyle is about more than what we eat! This inspiring talk and visual presentation will provide more reasons than one to motivate and reinforce your resolve to become and stay raw vegan for life. Since running around Australia, Janette and Alan have hiked a total of 2500 miles, walking along the Pilgrim Trails in France and Spain. The Pilgrim Way (France) and Camino (Spain) have been followed since the 13th century from points all over Europe to the Spanish town of Santiago de Compostella. With the change of pace from running to walking, they have enjoyed the experience of ‘Walking Within’, which they will share during their talk and visual presentation of their adventures along the Way. They will also outline their next adventure of hiking on the Pilgrim Trail in China, a two-week hike in the Himalayan foothills with an ascent of 10,000 ft.

“RAW the Documentary” followed by Q&A with Janette Murray-Wakelin and Alan Murray
Indonesian Premiere Screening of ‘’RAW -the Documentary’. Riding on rave reviews from the Australia, USA, Hong Kong and China Premier Screening Tour, the Bali Vegan Festival has been chosen as the only venue for the Indonesian Premier screening of ‘RAW the Documentary’, before it goes to Europe and the UK. The cinematically produced feature film is based on Janette and Alan’s World Record Run around Australia, an epic achievement of running 366 consecutive marathons (a total of 15,782 km), a marathon per day (no days off!), fuelled entirely on a Raw Vegan diet of fresh, ripe fruit and vegetables, while wearing Vibram barefoot shoes! Watch as the couple surpass gruelling challenges during a run through the harsh terrain of this unforgiving continent. Redefine what you think is possible!

Each and every one of us has the power to influence others and help change this world. Spreading the vegan message can help add years to our friends and family’s lives while simultaneously saving the planet and bringing an end to the exploitation and slaughter of the most innocent beings on Earth. First, we need to learn what to say, then we need to learn how to say it to be most effective. In this speech, James shares his tips and experiences of how to influence others to change their lives for the better.

Liat is the founder of Down to Earth Bali, Earth Cafe and the Bali Vegan Festival. She is a trained macrobiotic chef and counsellor, having learnt under direct tutelage of master Michio Kushi. She opened her first restaurant at the age of 19 and has delved into the kitchens of hundreds of ill and suffering individuals, produced a series of cooking classes, led group detox retreats, macrobiotic conferences, Buddhist conventions, diet cruises and worked with numerous world famous people who are on the path of healing with whole foods. Her workshop on Home Remedies will give you invaluable knowledge about how to heal yourself naturally from a variety of ailments, and how to avoid getting ill in the first place!

In her talk, ‘How to Optimize the Lymphatic System’, Dr. Yulli will talk about the dynamic role of lymphatic health and the importance of lymphatic drainage.

Thyme and Caramel – “A Journey of Positivity, Kindness and Happiness” by Arielle Chennara
Arielle Chennara is a 15 year old entrepreneur and founder of Bali’s first vegan & gluten-free cakery called Thyme and Caramel. Arielle will be presenting her journey in finding positivity, kindness and happiness through Thyme and Caramel. Arielle will also talk about the sustainability aspects of her cakery and what she thinks about veganism.

“Farm animals protection: what HSI is doing globally in Asia and Vietnam”
Humane Society International is one of the only global animal protection organizations working to help all animals—including animals in laboratories, animals on farms, companion animals and wildlife—and their record of achievement demonstrates the dedication and effectiveness. Campaign Manager for Farm Animals Protection in Vietnam for HSI, Trang Dang, works on various meat reduction programs and animal welfare policies. With the organization, she’s reaching out to schools, universities, hospitals, restaurants and businesses across the region to promote a healthier, greener and more compassionate lifestyle. Qi Gong with Master Khien Phuc
Khien Phuc, of Cambodian origin,has been practicing and teaching external (Kung Fu) as well as internal (Tai Chi, Qi Gong) martial arts for more than 30 years. He will teach you the form called “The 5 Animals Qi Gong”, being an expert in this practice. This form of Qi Gong, well known in China, is one the four methods officially recognized. It has been created by Hua Tuo (a doctor in medicine of the Han dynasty), each movement of which is the result from his watching wild animals’ behaviours.

“Animal Rescue in Indonesia” by Femke den Haas from JAAN
Femke den Haas is a co-founder of the Jakarta Animal Aid Network, a small nonprofit started in 2008. She is originally from the Netherlands; the organisation’s members include a mix of foreign nationals and Indonesians. She will talk about JAAN’s works in helping protect animals rights across Indonesia and more specifically their Free Bali Dolphins campaign and their efforts.

“Italian Cooking – The Vegan Way” with Salvatore Pesti
Salvatore grew up on the Mediterranean Island of Sicily, learning the traditional art of Italian cuisine from a young age which has been handed down through family generations. In this cooking class Sal will show you how to make Pumpkin ravioli arugula almonds pesto sauce, Portobello mushroom meatballs cheddar cheese gravy sauce, and Vegan cup cake Tiramisù, cashew crème, sweet fluffy spongy cake dipped in barley cafe. Learn how to cook Italian classics the vegan way!

“Intro to Fermented Food and Drinks” with Sayuri Tanaka
Sayuri has spent time as a vegan chef in Japan, followed by 5 years in India as a yoga retreat chef. She has also had experience as a raw food chef for over 3 years at yoga teacher trainings in Bali, before she established herself in Ubud to run her own yoga & raw food retreat. In this workshop you’ll learn the benefits of fermented foods and drinks and how to best consume these and for what purposes. Sayuri will be demonstrating how to make water kefir, kombucha, and fermented nut cheese.
